Thu Day 2
Kershaw Park Canandaigua
north end of Canandaigua Lake
Route Review:
•visit 3 Finger Lakes -- cycle from Seneca Lake to Canandaigua Lake to Keuka Lake.
•Kershaw Park rest stop at the north end of Canandaigua Lake is an idyllic setting. Enjoy the view. Dip your feet in the lake.
•after leave Kershaw Park, the road leaving the park is narrow, so be aware of traffic. Cycle on Rt 364 along the NE shore of Canandaigua Lake for nice views of the lake. The first few miles of Rt 364 has busy traffic, but there are decent shoulders.
•after leaving the Rushville rest stop there are 3 climbs which are not that steep but total about 1,200 ft of climbing into Keuka
2 Rest Stops:
• Kershaw Park in Canandaigua (open 8 am to 11 am)
- Regular route & Long routes - 19 mile mark
•Rushville Hose Co in Rushville (open 9 am to 1 pm)
- Regular route - 28 mile mark - Long route - 37 mile mark
Long Route: About 5 miles after the Kershaw rest stop, the regular route cuts directly over to the Rushville rest stop. The long route continues south on Rt 364 to E Lake Rd for a 14 mile loop with 1,200 ft of climbing. It’s actually only 700 ft of extra climbing compared to the regular route. There are 3 good sized bumps to climb, with the steepest reaching 9%. If you want to cycle near the Lake, it’s worth the ride. If you don’t want the extra climbing, stick with the regular route.
