Training-Rides

This week’s Saturday ride, Aug 2nd -- 7:00 am Emerson Park, 2 laps of the Great Race course, with multiple primes for both men and women. Distance about 38 miles.

This week’s Sunday ride, Aug 3rd -- 8:00 am Emerson Park, 56 miles. Skaneateles Lake route, west to east. Rt 38A, Dewitt Rd, 41A to New Hope, Glen Haven Rd, refuel at the “Scott Mini Mall”, Rt 41 north, left on Woodworth, left on Nunnery Rd, to Borodino, then 41 north to Skaneateles.

This week’s ride schedule . . . .

Each weekend, when there is not a race, we try to schedule a group training ride for Sat and Sun mornings, usually leaving from Emerson Park. We also usually try to have an informal group ride on Tue evening.

Weekly individual time trials (TT) are on Thurs eves at 6 pm, alternating between the 10 mile West Lake Rd course leaving from just south of the traffic circle, and the 16 mile East Lake Rd course, leaving from Emerson Park, weather permitting.

*** TIP OF THE WEEK ***

Tires seem to wear quickly this time of the year, with hot roads and many miles of riding, so make sure you have a couple of spare tires and tubes ready to go. Replace the tires if cracks in the side walls or down to the cord material. Some cracks or tiny holes on the road surface rubber is OK.

Cycling is inherently a dangerous sport. Each rider is responsible for his / her own safety. If you are uncomfortable with the weather, the size of the group, the pace of the ride or the course itself, then it is up to you to decide whether you are putting yourself at risk by participating.
